What Exactly is included in Midwifery Care?
Prenatal Care Appointments: These hour long appointments allow for plenty of time to discuss your questions, time to get to know each other and build trust, and to prepare the whole family for the life changing event of having a baby. Appointments are monthly until 28 weeks, every 2 weeks until 36 weeks and then weekly until birth.
Childbirth Education: Are you a first time mom who needs lots of information? Or have you had a baby or two and are new to home birth? Or maybe you are trying to figure out how to prepare your children for home birth. I can help you with all of these situations. Childbirth education is tailored to be exactly what your family needs.
24-hour availability of your Midwife (for the 5 weeks around your due date). Do you have a question or concern? Call, text, or email for a quick answer. Are you in labor? I will happily leave whatever I have going on in my life to come be with you and celebrate the birth of your baby : ).
Informed Consent: An important part of my philosophy of care is that you take an active role in your health care. My goal is to educate you to be able to make the best possible choices for your family.
Labor Support & Home Birth: I work with two other licensed midwives. Together as a team of 2-3 we will provide labor support and be there as the guardians of safety for your home birth.
Water birth: I am an expert in water birth and loan out birth pools to make this easy for those interested.
Breastfeeding Education & Support: Establishing breastfeeding is a priority after birth. I will work with you to to make this as smooth as possible. A home visit consultation with a lactation specialist is available as needed.
Postpartum Care for Mother and Baby: Initial postpartum care appointments for both mom and baby will be in the comfort of your home. Postpartum care is provided for mom and baby for two months.

Photography: I love taking photographs and am happy to help document your pregnancy, birth and parenthood journey visually if that is something that you are interested in.
Birth Kit: This kit includes all of the disposable supplies that you will need for your birth. Also included are 6 home made “Birth Love” products specially crafted to ensure that you have a speedy postpartum recovery!
Birth Pool: Have you heard that laboring in water is the midwife’s epidural? It is an all natural way to manage all of the sensations of labor. I loan out birth pools to make this easy for my clients. All you need is a plastic pool liner and a hose.

The Midwives Model of Care
The Midwives Model of Care is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life processes.
The Midwives Model of Care includes:
- Monitoring the physical, psychological, and social well-being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle
- Providing the mother with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support
- Minimizing technological interventions
- Identifying and referring women who require obstetrical attention
- The application of this woman-centered model of care has been proven to reduce the incidence of birth injury, trauma, and cesarean section.
