A home IUI is an empowering experience. You are saying “I want a baby! And with conscious intention I am going to take steps towards bringing that baby into my arms.” Deciding to have a baby is courageous. 

When you do your IUI at home you get to create your conception space and you are the decision maker about everything happening to your body. You can have music or quiet, scents that you like, and your favorite cozy blanket. You decide when you are ready and we move at your pace, honoring the sacredness of creating another human being. 

The IUI procedure done at home is the same as what is done at a fertility clinic only it is done on your bed or couch. You will get comfy with your hips slightly elevated. We use a speculum just like for a pap smear. We visualize your cervix and we can show it to you in a mirror. Then we use a very thin flexible tube to gently move through the cervix to the top of the uterus where we put the sperm. Essentially we are helping those sperm bypass the work of finding the cervix and having to swim up through the cervix and uterus. 

Most people feel like an IUI is more comfortable than a pap because your cervix is not getting scraped for a sample. After removing the thin tube and speculum you get to rest cozy in your space for about 20 minutes. 

And it is that simple. Simple and yet quite amazing.
